Clint Eastwood and Beyonce may be teaming up to make a new musical version of A Star Is Born.
Warner Bros has confirmed that the duo are in negotiations to remake the 1937 classic, which starred Janet Gaynor and Fredric March.
Clint – who has directed the forthcoming Hereafter, Invictus and Million Dollar Baby – is in talks to helm, while Beyonce, who has been attached to the project for some time, would star as promising Hollywood starlet Esther Blodgett, later known as Vicki Lester.
Billy Gerber, Basil Iwanyk and Jon Peters, who made the 1976 version of the film, are set to produce this fourth version.
Corporate spokeswoman Jessica Zacholl notes that the deals have not been finalised and negotiations are ongoing.
There have been two notable big-screen adaptations of A Star Is Born since the original. Judy Garland and James Mason portrayed the two roles in 1954, while Barbra Streisand and Kris Kristofferson took the parts in the 1976 movie.
