Ozzy Osbourne is set to move back to the UK to save his marriage to Sharon.

The couple – who have been married for 31 years – have had their arguments recently stemming from the Black Sabbath rocker’s drink and drug abuse – but according to reports Sharon is willing to give him another chance if he leaves Los Angeles with her.

With the 60-year-old star set to return as a judge on ‘The X Factor’ UK later this year, it seems the best chance of saving their relationship is a return to their homeland.

An insider told the Sunday People newspaper: “Ozzy loves living in LA but he knows that if he doesn’t return to England with Sharon it could be disastrous for their relationship.

“By supporting Sharon in the UK it means they can work through their problems and she can help him with his issues.”

The pair will be living in their mansion in Buckinghamshire, south east England and escaping to the “countryside” could be what their marriage needs.

The source added: “They will be staying at their house in Buckinghamshire which is in the countryside and very peaceful, like a haven.

“This is something they need to do for each other. LA is where all the problems began so they feel it will be good to live in the UK together.”

The Saturdays star Rochelle Humes has become a mum.

The singer and husband Marvin Humes from JLS are parents to a daughter called Alaia-Mai.

The baby was born this morning with Marvin announcing the new arrival on Twitter.

He said: “Mum is doing great & baby is amazing. We are both overjoyed.”

The couple married last year in a ceremony at Blenheim Palace in Oxfordshire with other members of The Saturdays acting as bridesmaids.

Rochelle’s bandmate, Una Healy, is already a mum, after giving birth to daugher Aoife last year, and the group’s Frankie Sandford is also pregnant.

The five-piece girl group scored their first number one in March with the track ‘What About Us’.

Marvin’s hit-making quartet JLS recently announced they are calling it a day with a farewell tour later this year, together with a greatest hits album.

It is set to be the next big thing for gadget lovers everywhere. But users of Google Glass, a high-tech pair of spectacles with in-built hands-free video camera and internet access, are being given some basic advice – take them off when visiting public conveniences.

Some attendees forgot to remove their Google Glass during calls of nature at a Google developers conference in San Francisco.

The device has already raised privacy fears because it can record video far less conspicuously than a handheld device and could make it difficult for people to know when they are on camera.

Drew Olanoff, reviewing Glass for the Techcrunch website, said: “In its current state, Glass is a utility that allows you to do some of the things that your smartphone does now. The difference with Glass is that you can do these things hands-free, quicker than before and in a less socially disruptive way.

“Still, we heard about people wearing Glass in the bathroom, as if to remind us that not everyone is ready to feed into the hype of the device.”
Alex Roth, a technology reviewer for Techradar, said: “Google is actively trying to reduce the voyeur factor by making it rather obvious when Glass is engaged. The screen emits a glow when in use, and spoken commands like ’take a picture’ make sure those around you are clued in to what you’re doing.

“You also have to look up to read the screen, so broken eye contact will be a dead giveaway. Your friends will know when you’re checking football scores instead of listening to them. It also suffers a similar stigma to the Bluetooth earpiece, in that it’s distracting, and a bit goofy looking.”

Google executive chairman Eric Schmidt dismissed concerns about privacy during a talk at Harvard University’s Kennedy School of Government in April, saying: “Criticisms are inevitably from people who are afraid of change or who have not figured out that there will be an adaptation of society to it.”

Google Glass is supposed to perform many of the same tasks as smartphones, except the glasses respond to voice commands instead of fingers touching a display screen.

The glasses are equipped with a camera and tiny display screen attached to a rim above the right eye.

Users can speak to the glasses as well as record video, access email, get driving directions and surf the internet by connecting wirelessly to a user’s cell phone.

Google Glasses have yet to go on open sale but are being tested by a selected group of users in the US.

The company also sold an unspecified number of Explorer models to computer programmers last year.

The finished product is expected to cost around €1,200.

Two tourists died and 23 others were injured when two hot air balloons collided in mid-air during a sightseeing tour in Turkey, causing one to crash.

An ascending balloon struck another’s wicker basket above it, causing a tear that sent it plunging to the ground, the state-run Anadolu Agency reported.

The passengers on board the balloon that crashed were mostly tourists from Asia, Spain and Brazil. Many had fractures and one of them, an elderly passenger, was in a serious condition.

The balloons were flying above scenic canyons and volcanic cones of the Cappadocia region, a popular tourist destination 190 miles from the capital, Ankara. Cappadocia is famed for its “fairy chimney” volcanic cones and its subterranean cities carved out of soft stone.

It was the second fatal accident in Cappadocia since balloon sightseeing tours were launched there more than a decade ago. In 2009, a British tourist died when two balloons also collided mid-air.

In February, a balloon caught fire and crashed in Egypt, killing 19 tourists.

The father of former Premier League and England footballers Gary and Phil Neville will be charged with sexual assault.

Neville Neville, 63, is accused of sexually assaulting a 46-year-old woman in March, the Crown Prosecution Service said.

Nazir Afzal from the CPS said: “Greater Manchester Police has investigated an allegation of sexual assault by Neville Neville in March 2013.

“I have reviewed all the evidence that they have gathered and have authorised the police to charge him with one count of sexual assault by penetration against a 46-year-old woman.”

He will appear at Bury and Rochdale Magistrates’ Court on June 12.

Neville was arrested in March by police investigating the alleged assault in the Greenmount area of Bury.

It is claimed to have taken place in the early hours of March 23.

As well as working as an agent for his sons, outgoing Everton captain Phil and former Manchester United captain, Gary – now an England coach and pundit, Neville Neville is a former director of League One side Bury FC.

He was also a sportsman in his own right, and played for Greenmount in the Bolton Cricket League in the 1980s.

Yahoo is on the verge of buying online content-sharing site Tumblr in a 1.1 billion dollar deal.

The acquisition could be announced later today, and would be the biggest of the 10-month reign of chief executive Marissa Mayer as she tries to attract more traffic and advertisers to the Internet company’s website and mobile applications.

The Sunnyvale, California, company’s board of directors were meeting last night to consider approving the deal, and Yahoo has promised to unveil “something special” this evening in New York.

The event is being held in a Times Squares lounge located about two miles from Tumblr’s headquarters.

Yahoo has only said that Ms Mayer will be on hand to unveil something related to a product, and buying Tumblr would fulfill her goal of reaching a wider audience on smartphones and tablet computers.

Tumblr serves up a constantly changing collage of stories, photos and other digital content provided by users who are increasingly connecting to the service through its mobile applications.

The service is also one of the hottest sites among teenagers and young adults, a demographic that Ms Mayer, 37, thinks Yahoo needs to do a better job of reaching.

If it is completed, the Tumblr deal would be her biggest coup – and, at the same time, the biggest risk – since she ended her 13-year career as a key executive at Google to try to snap Yahoo out of a prolonged malaise that had demoralised employees and investors alike.

Since her arrival, Ms Mayer has been focused on redesigning several Yahoo services and bringing in more mobile engineering talent, primarily by buying a series of small start-ups.

None of those previous acquisitions have required Yahoo to dip too deeply into its bank account.

Late last year, Yahoo paid a total of 7 million dollars for two start-ups called OnTheAir and Stamped. In the first three months of this year, Yahoo snapped up three more start-ups for a total of 10 million dollars.

Tumblr, founded in 2007 by its chief executive David Karp, would presumably become a pivotal part of Ms Mayer’s effort to sell more advertising.

She has been winning back investors, even though the company’s revenue is still lagging the overall growth of the booming Internet and mobile advertising market. Yahoo’s stock price has risen 69% under her leadership.

MPs in the UK are in line for a dramatic pay rise of up to £20,000 (€23,000) in a move that could spark public fury.

The Independent Parliamentary Standards Authority (Ipsa) has been looking at an increase of between £10,000 (€11,800) and £20,000 (€23,000) – although the lower figure is considered more likely.

The hike would be partly offset by curbs to their gold-plated pensions and personal expenses.

Ipsa took responsibility for MPs’ salaries and pensions two years ago, and has been carrying out a fundamental review.

A survey released by the watchdog in January found politicians on average believed they should be paid £86,000 (€101,000) rather than £66,000 (€77,900), with some demanding more than £100,000 (€118,000).

Speaker John Bercow is among those who have been pushing for better remuneration, warning that the Commons must attract people from all backgrounds.

Ipsa is due to deliver its initial proposals for consultation next month, although the main changes will not come into effect until after the general election in 2015.

However, any significant rise is certain to be controversial as the economy continues to struggle and the rest of the public sector is subject to tight pay restraint.

Officials are concerned that David Cameron and other party leaders may find it difficult to back such an increase.

Last month ministers acted to reduce the government element of their pay so they did not benefit from a 1% increase granted to MPs.

The British Foreign Office is “urgently” investigating reports that a British man has been arrested on suspicion of slitting the throats of his two children in France.

The bodies of the youngsters, said to be aged five and 10, were discovered in a flat near Lyon yesterday afternoon, according to local reports.

A Foreign Office spokesman said: “We are aware of the reports and we are urgently looking into them.”

French news reports claimed the 48-year-old man was arrested after his former wife spotted him on the stairs to his flat with blood-stained clothes.

Several witnesses reportedly spotted the man fleeing the scene, in Saint-Priest, a suburb to the south-east of Lyon, on roller skates, Le Parisien reported.

He and his ex-wife were said to have recently gone through a difficult divorce.

The father was reportedly taken into custody following a manhunt yesterday evening.

The mother, an assistant accountant, had won custody of the children following her divorce and had left to live in Isere, a region to the south-east of Lyon, while the unemployed father continued to live in the flat, according to the Parisien paper.

“The people who live here are all in a state of shock,” said Ahmed Benguedda, a former neighbour of the family.

The ex-neighbour added that his seven-year-old daughter used to play with the two victims, whom he described as “well adjusted”.

Others residents of the small, four-storey building refused to speak to journalists.

Marriage between a man and woman is “sorely needed” in today’s society and it could soon be “too late” to save that union, the leader of the Roman Catholic church in England and Wales has said.

In a wide-ranging attack on Coalition policies, the Archbishop of Westminster, the Most Rev Vincent Nichols, accused David Cameron of seeking to undermine a centuries-old understanding of matrimony.

He said support for marriage and family stability was now an urgent priority that “no intelligent government” could ignore.

His comments come just days before MPs debate the same-sex marriage bill which faces its next Commons hurdle this week.

Mr Cameron has made the controversial legislation a key symbol of his efforts to modernise the Conservatives but the issue has caused divisions in his party.

During a service at Westminster Cathedral, where more than 600 couples renewed their vows, the Archbishop said marriage was an “exclusive” commitment between a man and a woman.

“This witness you give, to the true nature of marriage in its natural and supernatural meaning, is a witness that is sorely needed today,” he said.

“It stands against those trends in our society which seek to undermine this understanding of marriage, reducing marriage primarily to a means of satisfying individual emotional needs.”

He added: “I hope many in our society will realise, before it is too late, the importance of full and unequivocal legal backing for this true and lasting definition of marriage.

“The core of marriage is not determined by human laws and conventions.

“For a healthy society, those laws and conventions should always support marriage as an institution characterised by an openness to children and the responsibility of fathers and mothers remaining together to care for children born into their family.”

The Archbishop, who has been one of the loudest opponents of the Government plans, told the congregation that a stable family was the “first and best answer” to personal and social problems.

“Families are often best placed to respond to those needs,” he said.

“No intelligent government can continue to ignore the urgent priority of giving support and practical encouragement to marriage and family stability as the first response to growing social needs.”

During the Mass in Thanksgiving for the Sacrament of Marriage he blessed the couples who celebrated almost 20,000 years of wedlock between them.

All were marking their 10th, 25th, 40th, 50th or 60th anniversaries this year.

Eleanor Flexen, 64, who marked her 40th anniversary with her chauffeur husband Roger, 66, welcomed his words.

Mrs Flexen, from West Drayton in west London, said: “The service reinforced marriage, especially in this day and age.

“It is important, family is important, especially for children who do need a mother and a father.

“What was marriage will die out if they don’t promote it.”

Denis Shalloe, 71, from Ealing in west London, and his wife Alison, 70, echoed her words and said they would advocate marriage to future generations.

“It was a beautiful service,” Mrs Shalloe said. “For us it was a celebration of 50 years of marriage. It’s been up and down but it has been good.”

Support for the UK Independence Party has reached a record 19%, according to a poll which saw both Labour and the Conservatives losing ground.

Labour was down three points to 35%, the Conservatives were down one to 29% and the Liberal Democrats were unchanged on 8%.

The ComRes poll for the Sunday Mirror and Independent on Sunday found support for Nigel Farage’s party was up 4 percentage points since the last survey a month ago and gives Ukip the highest share recorded by any pollster.

According to the study 46% of Britons would vote to leave the European Union in a referendum now, compared with 24% who would stay in.

But if some powers were returned to the UK from Brussels 43% would vote to remain in the EU, with just 24% determined to see Britain leave.

The poll found just 26% said David Cameron was a good Prime Minister, a record low in ComRes studies, while 31% believed Ed Miliband was performing well as Labour leader, a new high.

The survey revealed that 57% of voters believed Mr Cameron’s party was more divided over Europe than it was under John Major, with 14% disagreeing.

But there was some comfort for the Prime Minister, with 49% of voters saying the offer of a European referendum would be important to them at the next general election, with 27% disagreeing.

Some 32% believed Mr Cameron would make the best prime minister of the party leaders, with 24% opting for Mr Miliband.

ComRes interviewed 2,017 British adults online on May 15/16. Data were weighted to be demographically representative of all adults and by past vote recall.

French president Francois Hollande has signed a law authorising gay marriage and adoption by same-sex couples, after months of nationwide protests and wrenching debate.

His signature means the first gay marriages may be celebrated in France within about 10 days. Hollande’s office said he signed the bill today, a day after the Constitutional Council struck down a challenge to the law.

Hollande, a Socialist, had made legalising gay marriage one of his campaign pledges last year.

While polls for years have shown majority support for gay marriage in France, adoption by same-sex couples is more controversial.

The bill prompted months of widespread protests, largely by conservative and religious groups.

Some were marred by clashes with police. It became a flashpoint for frustrations at the increasingly unpopular Hollande.

Alex Ferguson has confirmed Anders Lindegaard will start his final game as Manchester United manager – and Nemanja Vidic and Rio Ferdinand will be on the bench.

Ferguson promised Lindegaard he would make sure he reached the 10 Barclays Premier League appearances which at the time the Scot thought were required to qualify for a title winners’ medal.

The manager has since learned that he would have been able to give Lindegaard a medal anyway, but nevertheless he intends to stand by his pledge to get the Dane into double figures at West Brom on Sunday.

“I stand by that,” he said.

“Anders will be in goal. I will play one or two younger players, and I want to play Jonny Evans and Phil Jones at centre-half because they are the future.

“Nemanja and Rio will just have to make do with a place on the bench.”

Ferguson was presented with a cake by the media prior to today’s press conference in honour of the 26 years he has spent at Old Trafford.

“It’s fully deserved,” he joked.

“There have been some times when I have not agreed with what people have written and when you write positive things I tend to dismiss them.

“But I have never held a grudge. It is not my style.”

Ferguson was in an emotional but cheery mood as he looked forward to his 1500th and final game as United manager before he stands down in favour of David Moyes in the summer.

“It has been amazing,” he said.

“Sunday (the home game against Swansea) was amazing and the parade on Monday was unbelievable.

“I thought the scenes after the treble in 1999 couldn’t be beaten but I think Monday probably did.”

Ferguson confirmed he has a League Managers’ Association meeting on Monday and horse racing commitments on Tuesday and Wednesday, ensuring the start of his retirement will be a busy one.

“It is going to be a different life,” he said.

“I have had 40 years as a manager.”

Google executive chairman Eric Schmidt will meet David Cameron next week, just days after the internet giant was mauled by a Commons committee over its tax affairs.

Downing Street confirmed that Mr Schmidt is expected to attend a regular quarterly meeting of the Prime Minister’s Business Advisory Group at Number 10 on Monday.

The Google chief is one of 16 members of the group, set up in 2010 as a sounding board for the PM to hear business leaders’ concerns and priorities and discuss the Government’s policies for the economy and growth, and has regularly taken part in its gatherings.

A Downing Street spokesman said that Monday’s meeting has been in the diary for some time and was not called in response to the recent controversy over the levels of tax Google pays in the UK. Details of the discussions are not normally released by Downing Street, but the spokesman said he was not aware of any plans for multinationals’ tax arrangements to be on the agenda.

Google was yesterday branded devious, calculating and unethical, as furious MPs stepped up pressure on the search engine over its efforts to shelter its multi-billion pound profits from UK taxes.

At a stormy session of the Commons Public Accounts Committee, members reacted with incredulity to claims that the company – which paid just £6 million in corporation tax in 2011 – did not carry out advertising sales in the UK, despite generating more than £3 billion a year in revenues.

Vice president Matt Brittin, Google’s head of operations in Northern Europe, insisted that he stood by evidence he gave last year that all the company’s European sales were routed through its operation in Ireland and so were not liable to UK taxes.

But he was told by committee chairman Margaret Hodge: “You are a company that says you do no evil and I think that you do do evil in that you use smoke and mirrors to avoid paying tax.”
