More than half of UK women say they have been sexually harassed at work – and most have never reported it, according to new research.

A new report from the UK’s Trades Union Congress say its reached a ‘shameful level’ with many women subjected to unwelcome jokes, verbal advances and suggestive comments.

The founder of the Everyday Sexism project Lara Bates says this kind of behaviour needs to be taken more seriously: “This is absolutely rampant and I think there is a real sense of normalisation surrounding it.

“There is a sense of shrugging it off, of calling it a joke, of saying it is just a bit of banter, that women should expect it, in some cases people saying that women should enjoy the attention.”
