I am always on the hunt for natural remedies from exotic fruits, vegetable to herbs and spices. Honey, my favourite natural remedy as been around for over 150 million years and its versatility is endless. Known as the ‘Nectar of Life’, it’s uses dates back to the ancient considered as nature’s energy booster. Used for centuries not only as a remedy but also as an offering to the Gods, trading currencies and a symbol of love. According to Aristoxenus (320 B.C), consuming honey as part of your daily breakfast prevents you from getting a host of diseases. Besides its consumption as food, raw honey in its natural form has several medicinal uses that are used topically to treat several ailments. Here are some interesting facts you should know about using honey as a cure:

The antibacterial properties of honey and its antiseptic properties make it effective in the treatment of wounds has been proven.

honey possesses carcinogen-preventing and anti-tumour properties. Published studies thus far have shown that honey improves immune status, has anti-inflammatory and anti-microbial properties and promotes healing of chronic ulcers and wounds and scavenge toxic free radicals.
