Katy Perry has claimed she plans to take husband Russell Brand’s surname.
The pop star, who tied the knot to the funnyman in October, told US chat show host Ellen DeGeneres that she is in the process of making the official switch, but is already getting used to being called Katy Brand.
“People call me Mrs Brand to try to get my attention – like if I’m at an event or something like that, and they want special attention, they go, ‘Mrs. Brand!’ And I go shwoosh [looks back],” she said on The Ellen DeGeneres Show.
Katy revealed she is enjoying being a newlywed.
“There’s never a dull moment. He’s a smorgasbord of things,” she continued.
“A sense of humour is really important in our household. That’s how we de-stress, and we like to have a laugh.”
The 26-year-old jokingly berated Dame Helen Mirren, who stars in The Tempest with Russell and has said she is “very jealous” of Katy for being married to him.
“She needs to step off my man,” Katy joked, adding: “Actually, I kind of don’t mind that someone else takes some of the responsibility, because it’s a lot of work [being married to Russell].”
