Almost half of people in work consider a change in career in the month of January, according to a new survey.

Some 47% of working people are currently reviewing their career options.

The poll of 1,000 people found that almost a quarter of us (23%) are actively seeking a new job, while 14% are considering setting up their own business and one in ten are looking into training opportunities to enhance their future prospects.

John Parker, director of training experts Ibp Academy, said: “The new year tends to be a time of reflection for most people and while many of us resolve to lose weight or take up a new hobby, it seems natural that others will review their career.

“People come back from the Christmas break with renewed energy and the drive to improve their prospects, whether it be through finding a new job, going for promotion or gaining new qualifications.

“January is always our busiest month for inquiries, but this year has seen a particular increase, with web traffic up 60%.”
