Thousand of Germans have demonstrated against their nation's farming policies (AP)

Thousand of Germans have demonstrated against their nation’s farming policies after traces of cancer-causing chemicals were found in eggs, poultry and pork.

More than 15,000 people marched behind bright green tractors through the German capital demanding politicians reject genetically altered foods.

Hubert Weiger, head of the environmentalist group BUND, called on German leaders to push for Europe-wide agricultural reform based on the needs of farmers and the environment.

Dioxin found in German food products this month was traced to industrially produced livestock feed.
