Twitter will now share video revenue with individuals

And so the platform wars continue.

Twitter, in a bid to drive engagement and gain more users, is planning to offer revenue from videos posted to the site to the individuals who created them.

The Amplify Publisher programme, usually reserved for businesses, will be open to individuals publishing video content, with 70% of the ad revenue going to the creator, according to CNBC.

YouTube and Facebook have been sharing revenue with content creators on their platforms for a while and Twitter is playing catch up, at the same time as those sites are investing more in live videos.

Twitter is also giving users the opportunity to collaborate with brands through the start-up it acquired last year, Niche, who connect creators from platforms like Vine to brands needing content.
