		</div><p>Colorado was the first US state to legalise the recreational use of weed in October 2014. Now, the third largest city in the state is planning to use the tax from the sale of legal cannabis for good by giving a third of the projected $4.5 million revenue to help the homeless.</p>
<p>The council in Aurora have pledged $1.5 million each year from 2016 to 2018 to help homeless services support families who live in motels, as well as provide food and clothing, reports the Aurora Sentinel.</p>
<p>The decision was part of a wider plan about what to do with $4.5 million over the next two years to address homelessness after the council agreed on April 30 to give the Colfax Community Network $220,000.</p>
<p>“The Colfax Community Network is in extremely dire straits in that they do not have funds to continue operating,” Nancy Sheffield, director of Aurora neighbourhood services, told the newspaper.</p>
<p>According to the Denver Post the money will be used to fund a van and outreach workers for the city’s homeless programme.</p>
<p>Council members are also considering opening a day centre for homeless people where they could wash their clothes and receive help.</p>
<p>“We wanted to be able to show citizens that we are having a positive impact on the community and point to specific projects or initiatives to where that money is going to,” city councilman Bob Roth told the newspaper.</p>
