<p>Air traffic is improving at Paris&#8217; main airport, where hundreds of people spent the night on terminal floors and personnel handed out Christmas puppets and chocolates to stranded families.</p>
<p>Snowfall and severe shortages of de-icing fluid meant hundreds of flights were cancelled at Charles de Gaulle airport and some other European airports, leaving travellers stuck at the start of the holiday weekend.</p>
<p>Sunny skies and two shipments of de-icing fluid from the United States helped Charles de Gaulle get back to what the airport authority called &#8220;normal&#8221; flight schedules on Saturday.</p>
<p>Screens showed only a few delays. Children who had to stay in the terminals overnight clutched puppets they were given by airport staff.</p>
