		</div><p>Hactivist group Anonymous said they have shut down the Ecuadorian government webmail in retaliation for shutting down internet usage for WikiLeaks founder, Julian Assange, for the US presidential election.</p>
<p>The tweet by anonymous went as follows:</p>

<p>The Ecuadorian embassy in London shut down the hacker&#8217;s internet access after WikiLeaks dropped a series of email leaks linking to the Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton and her campaign chairman John Podesta.</p>
<p>The statement said that Ecuador “does not interfere in external electoral processes” and does not intend to take sides in the US presidential race. Although many would think the Clinton campaign is what prompted shutting down Assange.</p>
<p>In a statement to the accusations from the Ecuadorian government, the Wikileaks Editorial Board said, <i>“WikiLeaks publishes its journalistic work from large data centers based in France, Germany, the Netherlands and Norway, among others,”</i> the statement reads, telling the Ecuadorian authorities that they bear no liability for the leaks. </p>

<p>Julian Assange has been in asylum at the Ecuadorian embassy since 2012, and has also been flirting with extradition by the court of Sweden for rape allegations, which he has denied. He has believed that Sweden may be using this to have him sent for persecution in the United States.</p>
<p>Wikileaks is set to drop other batches of leaks that could turn the tide in the US presidential election.</p>
