<p>BBC presenter Clare Balding has spoken of her relief after learning she requires no more treatment after suffering from cancer.</p>
<p>Balding, 39, had been receiving treatment for thyroid cancer since 2009.</p>
<p>Speaking on BBC Radio 2&#8217;s French and Saunders programme, she said doctors had told her the news following an operation last month.</p>
<p>She told the programme: &#8220;I had to have a little operation just before Christmas to take out a nasty little lymph node and there was a worry that I might have to have more treatment.</p>
<p>&#8220;But I had a lovely letter from my oncologist just after Christmas saying, &#8216;Hurrah, no more treatment&#8217;, so I&#8217;m very happy about that.&#8221;</p>
<p>Thyroid cancer is rare, affecting fewer than 2,000 people per year.</p>
<p>The presenter posted the news on her Twitter page.</p>
<p>She wrote: &#8220;I had to have another little operation at the end of November (you&#8217;d never have known as I was back to work as soon as poss) to remove a lymph node.</p>
<p>&#8220;Much discussion as to whether I would need further radioactive iodine or even radiotherapy but the good news is that I need no further treatment.</p>
<p>&#8220;Not taking too much for granted but very, very relieved &#038; can sing into 2011 with glee. Not the series&#8230;&#8221;</p>
