Beirut blast: Search continues for possible survivor one month on

600px" class&equals;"wp-caption aligncenter"><img src&equals;"https&colon;&sol;&sol;londonglossy&period;com&sol;wp-content&sol;uploads&sol;2020&sol;09&sol;F91E9EA4-AEE0-4211-8907-C822A89ED199&period;jpeg" alt&equals;"" width&equals;"600" height&equals;"401" class&equals;"size-full wp-image-161515" &sol;><figcaption id&equals;"caption-attachment-161515" class&equals;"wp-caption-text">Chilean rescuers pat their rescue dog&period;<&sol;figcaption><&sol;figure>&NewLine;<p>After hours of searching the work briefly stopped following sunset before some protesters arrived at the scene claiming the Lebanese army had asked the Chilean team to stop the search&period;<br &sol;>&NewLine;The protesters started searching themselves until members of Lebanon’s Civil Defence team arrived an hour after midnight and resumed work&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>The army issued a statement on Friday saying the Chilean team stopped work half an hour before midnight because of fears that a wall might collapse&comma; endangering them&period; It added that army experts inspected the site and two cranes were brought in to remove the wall and the search resumed&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>On Friday morning&comma; rescue workers were slowly removing debris with their hands and shovels&period; The more they dug&comma; the more careful the work became to protect any possible survivors under the rubble&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<figure id&equals;"attachment&lowbar;161513" aria-describedby&equals;"caption-attachment-161513" style&equals;"width&colon; the team used audio detection equipment for signals or heartbeat&comma; and detected what could be a pulse of 18 to 19 beats per minute&period; The origin of the pulsing signal was not immediately known but it set off a frantic search and raised new hope&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p><&excl;--Ads2--><&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>On Friday morning&comma; the beats dropped to seven per minute according to reporters at the site&period;<br &sol;>&NewLine;It is extremely unlikely that any survivors would be found a month after the blast that tore through Beirut when nearly 3&comma;000 tons of ammonium nitrate ignited at the port&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>The explosion killed 191 people and injured 6&comma;000 others and is considered to be one of the biggest non-nuclear explosions ever recorded&period; Thousands of homes were damaged&period;<br &sol;>&NewLine;&OpenCurlyDoubleQuote;Ninety-nine percent there isn’t anything&comma; but even if there is less than 1&percnt; hope&comma; we should keep on looking&comma;” said Youssef Malah&comma; a civil defence worker&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>But a Chilean volunteer said their equipment identifies breathing and heartbeat from humans&comma; not animals&comma; and it detected a sign of a human&period;
