<p>US Vice President Joe Biden has arrived in Iraq for talks with the new government&#8217;s leaders about the future of American troops in the country as they prepare to leave at the year&#8217;s end.</p>
<p>Mr Biden was not expected to make any statements after his flight landed in Baghdad.</p>
<p>He will meet later with top Iraqi leaders who only last month picked a new Cabinet after inconclusive elections last March.</p>
<p>Iraqi leaders are weighing whether to ask US forces to stay in Iraq past a December 31 deadline set in 2008 by Washington and Baghdad.</p>
<p>Iraq has said it is not ready to defend its borders, but prime minister Nouri al Maliki has signalled he wants American troops to leave on time.</p>
