Boston police captain’s son arrested for suspected ‘IS’ terrorist plot

Alexander Ciccolo&comma; was arrested by FBI agents and taken into custody on gun charges&comma; after buying guns from an undercover FBI informant&comma; federal officers said&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>Officials reportedly found his apartment heavily stocked with potential bomb-making materials&comma; including a pressure cooker&comma; various chemicals&comma; an alarm clock&comma; &OpenCurlyDoubleQuote;attack planning papers” and &OpenCurlyQuote;jihad’ paperwork&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>A number of partially constructed &OpenCurlyQuote;Molotov Cocktails’ were also allegedly found at his apartment&comma; which contained what appeared to be shredded Styrofoam in motor oil&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>According to the Boston Herald&comma; Ciccolo had previously stated that this mixture in the home-made explosives&comma; would cause the fire to stick to people&&num;8217&semi;s skin and make it harder to put the fire out&comma; once the devices had exploded&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>The FBI said that the attack was planned for a college town&comma; which aimed to target &OpenCurlyDoubleQuote;college dorms and cafeteria&comma; to include executions of students&comma; which would be broadcast live via the internet&period;”<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>The FBI also report that Cicollo previously attempted to stab a nurse in the head with a pen during a routine screening&comma; &OpenCurlyDoubleQuote;leaving a hole in the nurse’s skin&period;”<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>Alexander Ciccolo&comma; 23 also known as Ali Al Amriki&comma; faces charges &OpenCurlyDoubleQuote;in connection with a plot to engage in terrorism” inspired by Islamic extremism&comma; US prosecutors said&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>A law enforcement official allegedly told the Boston Herald&comma; that Ciccolo’s father turned him in to the authorities&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>According to the complaint affidavit&comma; Ciccolo had spoken with an undercover witness in recorded conversations about his plans to commit acts of terrorism inspired by so-called ISIS&comma; targeting places where large numbers of people congregate&comma; like college cafeterias&comma; with improvised explosive devices&comma; such as pressure cookers filled with black powder&comma; nails&comma; ball bearings and glass&period; Prior to his arrest&comma; agents had observed Ciccolo purchase a pressure cooker similar to that used in the Boston Marathon bombings&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>A detention hearing has been scheduled for July 14 in the U&period;S&period;
