<p>Susan Boyle has lost out in the race to be top of the US album charts at Christmas &#8211; to Taylor Swift.</p>
<p>The British singer was beaten into second place by American pop star Taylor, whose album Speak Now sold just 5,000 more copies this week.</p>
<p>Earlier this year, Su-Bo became the first female singer to have a number one album in the United States and UK twice in less than a year.</p>
<p>Her second album The Gift followed her debut, I Dreamed A Dream, and took the top spot in the album charts on both sides of the Atlantic.</p>
<p>I Dreamed A Dream was top of the US album charts last Christmas.</p>
<p>Susan was catapulted from obscurity to global stardom after appearing on last year&#8217;s Britain&#8217;s Got Talent contest.</p>
<p>The singer, from West Lothian in Scotland, became an international star after her performance of I Dreamed A Dream from the musical Les Miserables stunned the audience and judges on the ITV1 show.</p>
