<p>A British man has died at an Australian detention centre while awaiting deportation due to a breach of visa conditions.</p>
<p>The Department of Immigration and Citizenship said the 29-year-old was not breathing when staff were called to his quarters in Sydney on Wednesday morning. </p>
<p>Paramedics could not revive him, the department said in a statement.</p>
<p>The man had been detained for breaching his visa conditions and was due to be deported. He was being held in a high-security area of the detention centre, the statement said.</p>
<p>Police were investigating the man&#8217;s death. </p>
<p>The statement man&#8217;s identity and any other details could not be released until his family is informed.</p>
