<p>Chocolate giant Cadbury&#8217;s is marking Fairtrade Fortnight by donating some of its profits to help fund solar power projects in Ghana, it has been announced.</p>
<p>The firm said 20% of profits from its Fairtrade certified Cadbury Dairy Milk products sold during the two weeks from next Monday (February 28) will go towards projects in Ghanaian cocoa-producing communities.</p>
<p>Julie Reynolds, head of marketing for Cadbury Dairy Milk, said: &#8220;Through chatting and working with Ghanaian farmers, we know that through solar panels, it can benefit the lives of communities greatly, doing everything from powering health clinics to giving kids extra study time at night.</p>
<p>&#8220;This is what inspired us to celebrate Fairtrade Fortnight 2011 by donating 20% of our profits to funding solar panels.&#8221;</p>
<p>Cadbury installed a giant fake sun on Brighton beach to mark its initiative and publicise how Ghanaian communities can harness the natural power of the sun when they have solar panels installed.</p>
<p>Sales of Cadbury Dairy Milk have so far led to £2.3 million being paid to farmers in 1,300 villages in Ghana.</p>
