Canada’s Trudeau appears set to hold onto government

Andrew Scheer&comma; who was seen as the perfect antidote to the prime minister’s flash and celebrity&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>Mr Trudeau reasserted liberalism in 2015 after almost 10 years of Conservative Party government in Canada&comma; son of the liberal icon and late Prime Minister Pierre Trudeau&comma; is one of the few remaining progressive world leaders in the Trump era and even appeared on the cover of Rolling Stone magazine under the headline &OpenCurlyDoubleQuote;Why Can’t He Be Our President&quest;”<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>Mr Bothwell said he expected Mr Scheer to resign&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>&OpenCurlyDoubleQuote;He’s gone&comma;” he said&period; but the damage gave a boost to the Conservative Party&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>Mr Trudeau’s Liberals will probably rely on the New Democrats to form a new government and stay in power&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>Mr Wiseman&comma; from the University of Toronto&comma; said he expected the New Democrats would largely support Mr Trudeau&comma; and other parties would not be pushing for an election in the short term&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>Mr Scheer had promised to end a national carbon tax and cut government spending&comma;
