<p>Hundreds of Elvis Presley fans, including rescued Chilean miner Edison Pena, gathered at Graceland to sing Happy Birthday on the late rock &#8216;n&#8217; roll icon&#8217;s 76th birthday.</p>
<p>Mr Pena, the guest of honour at Elvis&#8217;s birthday party, cut into a 4ft high cake fashioned to look like stacked television sets as fans cheered both the singer and the miner outside Elvis&#8217;s longtime Memphis home.</p>
<p>Presley was born on January 8, 1935 in Tupelo, Mississippi.</p>
<p>His birthday, while meaningful to Elvis fans around the world, does not attract the throngs of people who make the pilgrimage to Graceland to remember his death. The singer died on August 16, 1977, aged 42.</p>
<p>Mr Pena has said that Presley&#8217;s music helped him when he and 32 fellow miners, all of them rescued, were trapped underground last year.</p>
