<p>Simon Cowell will make a &#8220;surprise&#8221; announcement about the US version of The X Factor within weeks, the TV mogul has said.</p>
<p>The X Factor boss would not reveal the identity of the judges to ex-girlfriend Terri Seymour, who is a correspondent on US show Extra.</p>
<p>But he told her: &#8220;I&#8217;m going to make an announcement within three or four weeks, which is going to tell everyone everything. There will be some surprises.&#8221;</p>
<p>Simon refused to elaborate, but then hinted: &#8220;OK, one of the judges has quite long hair.&#8221;</p>
<p>The former American Idol judge also responded to executive producer Nigel Lythgoe&#8217;s comments to the New York Post that American Idol, and not X Factor, which debuts next year, will always be the top show.</p>
<p>&#8220;It&#8217;s childish, it&#8217;s disrespectful,&#8221; Simon said. &#8220;I think bearing in mind what we achieved together, I wouldn&#8217;t have liked it if anyone else said the same thing.&#8221;</p>
<p>Simon is said to be in the process of signing Pussycat Dolls&#8217; Nicole Scherzinger as one of his judges and is battling with the Fox TV network to get Cheryl Cole on board, even though she is virtually unknown in the US.</p>
