<p>The nephew of the Dalai Lama has been killed during a 300-mile &#8220;Walk for Tibet&#8221; along a Florida highway, police said.</p>
<p>The Florida Highway Patrol said 45-year-old Jigme Norbu was struck by a sport utility vehicle at about 7.30pm on Monday, local time, on State Road A1A along the state&#8217;s east coast.</p>
<p>According to www.ambassadorforworldpeace.org, Mr Norbu was walking from St Augustine, south, to West Palm Beach to raise awareness of the Tibetan struggle for independence from China.</p>
<p>He had done similar walks several other times including one in 2009 from Indiana to New York which marked the 50th anniversary of a failed Tibetan rebellion against Chinese rule that resulted in the exile of his uncle.</p>
<p>Mr Norbu of Bloomington, Indiana, was the son of the Dalai Lama&#8217;s late brother, Taktser Rinpoche.</p>
