<p>Da Vinci Code author Dan Brown has been signed up to adapt his book The Lost Symbol for the big screen.</p>
<p>Tom Hanks, who starred as Professor Robert Langdon in The Da Vinci Code and sequel Angel And Demons, and director Ron Howard, are yet to sign up to the project, but Sony has given the film adaptation of Dan&#8217;s third hit novel the green light.</p>
<p>The thriller sees Harvard symbologist Langdon getting mixed up with the freemasons in Washington, DC.</p>
<p>The 2006 adaptation of The Da Vinci Code and the 2009 version of Angels And Demons grossed 1.24 billion dollars at the worldwide box office for Sony.</p>
<p>But this is the first time Dan has written the screenplay himself. A Beautiful Mind&#8217;s Akiva Goldsman wrote the script for The Da Vinci Code and co-wrote Angels And Demons with Spider-Man&#8217;s David Koepp.</p>
<p>Ron Howard and Brian Grazer&#8217;s Imagine Entertainment is producing the project, but Ron is busy with his adaptation of Stephen King&#8217;s The Dark Tower, so it is not known if he will direct the third film.</p>
<p>The movie is expected to be released in summer 2013.</p>
