David Davis MP has voiced his concern about the initiation of domestic coronavirus vaccine passports. This comes from the discussions from many in parliament over the initiation of vaccination passports for access to certain venues (shops, events, travel, etc.).

The former Shadow Home Secretary pointed out “there are many” reasons as to why domestic vaccination passports should not be implemented.

“Firstly, the impact of this would be discriminatory. Under the law it would be indirectly discriminatory and that is illegal. You may well find it has been said that black and ethnic minority communities are less inclined to get vaccinated…well that would be an indirect discrimination.”

“Younger people may not get vaccinated…that would be a discrimination.”

He noted that “some people have ethical or religious objections” to taking the vaccine. By his quote of law, everyone has the freedom of choice, and the addition of a domestic passport would refuse individuals their rights.

He continues to say: “Norway, Iceland and others worrying about the safety of the vaccines. They do have side effects mostly not fatal ones, but they do have side effects.”

European countries such as France and Germany, for example, suspended the use of the AstraZeneca vaccine amidst blood clotting concerns.

“They [side effects] are not pleasant, but they’re not fatal, I don’t think.”

European countries such as France and Germany, for example, suspended the use of the AstraZeneca vaccine amidst blood clotting concerns.

“There are a variety of good reasons for people not to take a vaccine. I’ve had a vaccine and I think most the reasons are not ones I would subscribe to, but people have that freedom.”

The UK is set to open April 12th, and currently, 28,653,523 people are vaccinated according to data.gov.
