		</div><p>Demi Lovato has announced that she is taking a break from the limelight.</p>
<p>The singer and actress told fans on social media that she will take time off next year, saying she was “not meant for this business and the media”.</p>
<p>The 24-year-old revealed she was excited about stepping back.</p>
<p>When a fan asked about her decision and whether she would return, Demi replied that she didn’t know as it “doesn’t feel worth it anymore”.</p>
<p>Demi battled substance abuse, self-harming, an eating disorder and depression before ending up in rehab in 2010, and has been outspoken about Internet trolls and the need to promote a positive body image for young fans.</p>
<p>The star came under fire earlier this year after sharing a video on Snapchat of her mother joking about the Zika virus.</p>
<p>Her mum Dianna Hart was heard saying in the clip: “Everybody down in Rio gonna get the Zika virus.”</p>
<p>Demi could be heard laughing in the background.</p>
<p>She later tweeted her apologies.</p>
