		</div><p>DJ Khaled may now be loved around the world, thanks in no small part to his Snapchat presence, but his rise to the top definitely had its low moments.</p>
<p>Speaking with self-help writer and motivational speaker Tony Robbins – a job Khaled could almost definitely do – for Complex’s latest cover issue, Khaled recalled being homeless as he was becoming a “young man”.</p>
<p>“I worked so hard to come up, and it all got taken away. And when it all got taken away I was becoming a young man,” Khaled said. “So I had to sacrifice to leave my family. Sleeping in my car, getting an apartment for a month and getting evicted the next month. Staying in the $25, $50 hotels.”</p>
<p>But, even back then, the New Orleans native had within him the qualities we admire today.</p>
<p>“I stayed focused and I never surrendered, and now I’ve been blessed. Now I take care of my mother, my father, and my entire whole family.”</p>
<p>Khaled is preparing to drop his ninth studio album, Major Key, featuring some of the biggest names in hip hop, and has just got back from Beyonce’s Formation tour – not to mention his first child is on the way. Blessed really is the word.<br />
