In an interview with the New York Times, Tesla founder Elon Musk revealed that he would not take a vaccine for Covid-19.

The interview was hosted by Kara Swisher, who was puzzled at the entrepreneur’s remarks after she asked Musk directly “will you get a vaccine?”, and got a flat “no” answer.

“You won’t get a vaccine. Why is that?” – Kara Swisher

“I’m not at risk for COVID, nor are my kids. – Elon Musk

Bold as he may sound, Musk is all for vaccines…for cars at least. Tesla is currently making the machines for CureVac.

“Gates said something about me not knowing what I was doing. It’s like, hey, knucklehead, we actually make the vaccine machines for CureVac that company that you’re invested in.”

Musk is known to voice his thoughts more often than not, and when he speaks on a topic he draws attention from his “cult-like” following. For example, Tesla ($TSLA) is known for its volatile movements in the stock price, and years before the split Musk tweeted:

“Am considering taking Tesla private at $420. Funding secured.”

Am considering taking Tesla private at $420. Funding secured.

— Elon Musk (@elonmusk) August 7, 2018

The stock back then, trading at $342 a share, shot up to $367.25 before trading was halted at 2:08 pm ET. Once trading resumed at 3:45 pm, the stock was trading at $387.

Bottom line – Elon Musk’s word has a lot of influence, and if he is saying he won’t take the coronavirus vaccine, who’s to say members of his following won’t say the same? Only time will tell.
