<p>A Minnesota family who were driving to a pizza restaurant on the first day of the hunting season have survived a freak accident in which a deer struck by an oncoming car flew through their car windscreen and out their rear window.</p>
<p>Chris and Susan Blake and their 17-year-old daughter, Olivia, were injured but survived the bizarre crash while travelling along the Blue Earth County highway on Saturday.</p>
<p>The deer struck Chris in the face and glanced off Sue before striking Olivia in the back seat. The animal&#8217;s momentum sent it through the rear window.</p>
<p>&#8220;It came right through the windshield and actually t-boned me in the face,&#8221; Mr Blake told the TV station.</p>
<p>He said he suffered numerous broken bones in his face and that his daughter broke her nose and fractured her cheek. His wife, meanwhile, came away from the accident relatively unscathed with scratches to her face and bruising.</p>
<p>Olivia is hoping her broken nose, fractured cheek and swollen face mend quickly enough for her to play the lead in her school&#8217;s production of Hello, Dolly in two weeks.</p>
<p>&#8220;I hope to God, because we have no understudy and I don&#8217;t want to let everyone down,&#8221; she said.</p>
<p>Investigating officer Mark Fahning of the Minnesota State Patrol confirmed that the deer was killed in the collision and admitted it was the first time he had investigated a case in which a deer had flown all the way through a car.</p>
