<p>A murdered politician accidentally captured his killer in a photograph just as he was about to be shot in the Philippines.</p>
<p>Councillor Reynaldo Dagsa was taking a picture of his family outside their house in Manila when he was gunned down on New Year&#8217;s Eve.</p>
<p>The photo revealed a man aiming a gun from behind the smiling family, his wife, daughter and mother-in-law.</p>
<p>The gunman, wearing a baseball cap, is bracing himself against a car and pointing his gun at Mr Dagsa. His face is slightly obscured by the gun.</p>
<p>The car was parked in an alley outside the Dagsas&#8217; house. Also in the right corner of the photograph is a man police identified as the assassin&#8217;s lookout.</p>
<p>The family gave police the photo and a man identified as the gunman in the picture was arrested. A man alleged to be his accomplice also was arrested in a separate raid.</p>
<p>Police said the main suspect was a car thief who was out on bail and wanted revenge against Mr Dagsa for ordering his arrest last year.</p>
<p>Mr Dagsa&#8217;s wife and daughter said he had asked them to wake him up before the stroke of midnight so he could join in the usually noisy New Year&#8217;s Day street revelry.</p>
<p>The family members said they did not hear a gunshot because fireworks were exploding all around them. They only saw Mr Dagsa falling to the ground after he was hit.</p>
