<p>Music written by Oscar-winning actor Sir Anthony Hopkins is to be performed in the UK for the first time.</p>
<p>While famed as one of the finest screen performers of his generation through films such as Silence Of The Lambs, the 73-year-old star is perhaps less well-known for being an accomplished composer.</p>
<p>This summer will see Sir Anthony at a series of concerts including a performance in his Welsh homeland at St David&#8217;s Hall in Cardiff.</p>
<p>In the concerts, Sir Anthony presents the UK premiere of several of his original scores &#8211; including music from his own movies August and Slipstream, plus a brand new piece written for the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra (CBSO).</p>
<p>During the concerts, he will talk about his music and creative process with producer Tommy Pearson.</p>
<p>The CBSO, conducted by Michael Seal, will also play music from some of the actor&#8217;s best-known movies, including Shadowlands, Remains Of The Day and Silence Of The Lambs &#8211; the film which earned Sir Anthony the Academy Award for best actor in 1991.</p>
<p>He said: &#8220;I am immensely happy to be working with the CBSO to bring my compositions to the UK for the first time.</p>
<p>&#8220;There are themes and passages in these pieces that have been several decades in the making, and to bring them all vividly to life with one of the great symphony orchestras of the world is absolutely thrilling.&#8221;</p>
<p>Concert producer Tommy Pearson, whose company Red Ted Productions is promoting the Cardiff concert with Metropolis Music, said he was looking forward to the event.</p>
