directed by Briton Tom Hooper&comma; took only one &&num;8211&semi; Firth won best actor &&num;8211&semi; of the seven awards it was contending for&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>Black Swan&comma; a psychological thriller set in the world of ballet&comma; is just behind The King&&num;8217&semi;s Speech with 12 nominations&comma; including best film&comma; best director for Darren Aronofsky and best actress for Natalie Portman&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>One of Portman&&num;8217&semi;s rivals for the gong is 14-year-old Hailee Steinfeld &&num;8211&semi; the US teenager who won a key part in the Coen brothers western True Grit after an open casting call&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>Annette Bening and Julianne Moore &lpar;The Kids Are All Right&rpar;&comma; and Swedish actress Noomi Rapace &lpar;The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo&rpar; are also up for best actress&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>In the best director category&comma; Black Swan and The King&&num;8217&semi;s Speech are up against Slumdog Millionaire film-maker Danny Boyle for rock-climbing drama 127 Hours&comma; Christopher Nolan for his thriller Inception&comma; and David Fincher for The Social Network&comma; about the founding of Facebook&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>Inception&comma; starring Leonardo DiCaprio&comma;
