<p>Colin Firth has said that as a British actor working in Hollywood, winning an award from the Screen Actors Guild is particularly special.</p>
<p>Picking up the Best Actor gong for his role in The King&#8217;s Speech at the SAG awards ceremony in LA, the actor admitted: &#8220;This is really something.</p>
<p>&#8220;Until today, I&#8217;d say probably if ever I&#8217;ve felt that I&#8217;d had a trophy that told me something was really happening for me it was my SAG card,&#8221; Colin told the star-studded crowd.</p>
<p>&#8220;Growing up in England it&#8217;s not something you expect to see in your wallet,&#8221; he admitted, joking: &#8220;I used to flash it around hoping it would get me female attention, entry to nightclubs, and it didn&#8217;t.</p>
<p>&#8220;This [award] is even better.&#8221;</p>
<p>Accepting the award for Best Actress, Natalie Portman thanked her parents for teaching her not to &#8220;be an a**hole&#8221;.</p>
<p>The 29-year-old Black Swan star said in her acceptance speech: &#8220;My parents always taught me to work my hardest, taught me never to be an a**hole, it&#8217;s never acceptable,&#8221; she told the audience of celebs.</p>
<p>&#8220;I&#8217;ve been working since I was 11 years old and SAG has taken care of me, they made sure I wasn&#8217;t working too long and got my education, I&#8217;m so grateful to have this union protect me,&#8221; she added.</p>
<p>The pregnant actress looked beautiful at the ceremony wearing a white, strapless Azzaro gown and two million dollars worth of Tiffany jewels.</p>
<p>In his acceptance speech after winning Best Supporting Actor, The Fighter star Christian Bale talked about why he enjoys making movies. &#8220;I love acting, I love what we do. It&#8217;s so silly, it&#8217;s like playing dress up sometimes, then other times it&#8217;s so meaningful.&#8221;</p>
