<p>Hollywood legend Jane Fonda has hit out at the &#8220;cult of perfection&#8221; after appearing on the front of a glossy magazine and insisting the pictures were not airbrushed.</p>
<p>The 73-year-old actress told Good Housekeeping her photographs should not be touched up.</p>
<p>She said: &#8220;I feel so sorry for these young actresses coming up. There are always photographers everywhere, if they have a dimple in their buttock, there&#8217;s a close-up of it in some gossip magazine. So there&#8217;s this cult of perfection. </p>
<p>&#8220;Consequently all the young people who emulate celebrities think they have to look perfect and that&#8217;s so destructive.&#8221;</p>
<p>But Jane admitted to having plastic surgery in the past, saying: &#8220;I didn&#8217;t think that I would want to have anything done but it actually got to the point where I would startle myself when I saw my reflection in the mirror. </p>
<p>&#8220;I felt so great after a good night&#8217;s sleep, and suddenly I&#8217;d look at a reflection of myself and didn&#8217;t look like I felt.&#8221;</p>
<p>The star comes from a Hollywood dynasty &#8211; father Henry, brother Peter and niece Bridget all pursued successful cinema careers.</p>
<p>The double Oscar winner also enjoyed success as a fitness guru with a series of best-selling workout videos.</p>
