<p>Four children have died in a fire at a Roma camp in the Italian capital, rekindling a debate over their housing conditions.</p>
<p>The three boys and a girl, aged between three and 11, were siblings of Romanian nationality, police in Rome said.</p>
<p>They died in their sleep, officers added.</p>
<p>It is thought the blaze might have been sparked by a fire which had been started to warm up the building.</p>
<p>Rome Mayor Gianni Alemanno called the deaths a &#8220;terrible tragedy&#8221;.</p>
<p>The family lived in a shack in an illegal camp on the outskirts of Rome.</p>
<p>Mr Alemanno said the illegal camps must be shut down, and vowed to build safe, legal ones.</p>
<p>There are about 7,000 Roma in the Italian capital, according to Italian newspaper Corriere della Sera, almost half of them minors.</p>
