		</div><p>Friends co-creator Marta Kauffman has admitted she does not know if the show’s long-rumoured reunion will ever happen.</p>
<p>Kauffman wrote the beloved comedy series with David Crane and watched as it became one of the most popular shows in the history of television.</p>
<p>It made stars out of its six leading actors and nearly 16 years since its final episode aired in 2004, there remains intense interest in a follow-up.</p>
<p>Fans were given fresh hope towards the end of last year when it emerged talks had taken place, but earlier this week a US TV executive involved in the discussions said a reunion was only a “maybe”.</p>
<p>Now Kauffman has said she is in the dark over the possibility of a Friends return.</p>
<p>Speaking at an event in Los Angeles, she told the PA news agency: <em>“I don’t know. That is the honest answer, I don’t know. People are talking about it, but I don’t know if it’s actually going to happen.”</em></p>
<p>Friends starred Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, David Schwimmer, Matt LeBlanc and Matthew Perry as twenty-somethings struggling with life and love in New York City.</p>
<p>It ran for 10 seasons from 1994 and remains a cultural phenomenon.</p>
<p>Kauffman, speaking at the Producers Guild Awards where she was receiving the Norman Lear Achievement Award, appeared to cast doubt over whether a reunion was necessary.</p>
<p><em>“The show lived its life,”</em> she said. <em>“It was ready, it was time for it to be done. It’s about that time in your life when your friends are your family. And once they start having family it moves past that.”</em></p>
<p>Kauffman, who also created hit show Grace &; Frankie, added she felt “closure” after Friends ended.</p>
