		</div><p>George and Amal Clooney have been forced to step up security after the lawyer was sent death threats.</p>
<p>The couple have reportedly taken drastic measures to protect their 10.7m mansion in Berkshire, South England, have been advised not to travel without bodyguards and even have to be chauffeured to local restaurants just 300 yards away following worrying messages the 38-year-old beauty has received, supposedly in relation to her current case, which is seeing her represent jailed former president of the Maldives, Mohamed Nasheed.</p>
<p>South Oxfordshire district councillor Paul Harrison, who has been involved in negotiations to beef up surveillance at the Clooneys&#8217; home, said: &#8220;Security isn&#8217;t so much for him but for her.</p>
<p>&#8220;From George&#8217;s point of view, the high-level legal work she does and the death threats she gets, it&#8217;s quite serious.&#8221;</p>
<p>The &#8216;Hail, Ceasar!&#8217; actor and his wife initially applied for planning permission to erect up to eight cameras on 6m poles in the grounds, plus another 10 fixed to the ground, but the plans were denied as the cameras would represent a &#8220;potential infringement of the privacy of neighbouring properties &#8211; though a compromise has now been reached.</p>
<p>Mr. Harrison explained: &#8220;[The poles] have now been reduced from six to three meters, so we&#8217;re happy with that.&#8221;</p>
<p>The 54-year-old star is said to have masterminded all the security changes.</p>
<p>A source told Britain&#8217;s Grazia magazine: &#8220;George is understandably concerned that there are people seeking to harm Amal or at least intimidate her.</p>
<p>&#8220;She is a formidable woman with a wealth of experience handling contentious cases, but threats must be taken seriously.<br />
&#8220;George&#8217;s biggest fear is anything happening to Amal.</p>
<p>&#8220;Neither of them wants to take any chances.&#8221;</p>
