<p>Ryan Gosling had the &#8220;best time of his life&#8221; in Drive.</p>
<p>The Blue Valentine star had to do a lot of car stunts to play a Hollywood stuntman in Nicolas Winding Refn&#8217;s big-screen adaptation of James Sallis&#8217; novel, alongside Carey Mulligan .</p>
<p>&#8220;I had to do a bit of drifting, but mostly 360s and 180s (turns) and precision driving &#8211; I spent a couple of months on a huge parking lot in a Camaro or a Mustang and had to just run it. It was the best time of my life,&#8221; he said.</p>
<p>&#8220;I get to do a lot of car stunts. He&#8217;s a good driver so he doesn&#8217;t roll his car.&#8221;</p>
<p>Ryan, who received a Golden Globe nomination for his portrayal in Blue Valentine, is proud of his efforts.</p>
<p>&#8220;It&#8217;s a very odd film but I feel like it&#8217;s the closest thing to a superhero that I have come. He&#8217;s kind of a self-appointed superhero,&#8221; he continued. </p>
<p>&#8220;I think Nicolas is a very special filmmaker and it [Drive] has ended up being a cross between Blue Velvet and Purple Rain. Which I&#8217;m excited about, and hope everyone else is as excited too.&#8221;</p>
<p>Drive will be released on September 23.</p>
