		</div><p>A gunman opened fire at a cinema in Louisiana, killing two people and injuring seven others before fatally shooting himself.</p>
<p>Lafayette police chief Jim Craft said the injuries of the seven victims ranged from critical to not life-threatening.</p>
<p>He said the shooter was a 58-year-old man who died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound. The authorities have not released his identity.</p>
<p>The shooting happened at the Grand Theatre in the city of Lafayette, said Clay Henry, vice president of operations for Acadian Ambulance.</p>
<p>He said emergency workers were called to the cinema at about 7.30pm local time.</p>
<p>The shooting happened about 20 minutes into a 7pm showing of the film Train Wreck, according to the Daily Advertiser, which quoted cinema-goer Katie Domingue.</p>
<p>“We heard a loud pop we thought was a firecracker,” she told the newspaper. She said she saw “an older white man” standing up and shooting down into the cinema, but not in her direction.</p>
<p>“He wasn’t saying anything. I didn’t hear anybody screaming either,” she said.</p>
<p>Ms Domingue told the newspaper she heard about six shots before she and her fiancé ran to the nearest exit, leaving behind her shoes and handbag.</p>
<p>Police said they closed other cinemas in the area as a precaution.</p>
<p>Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal tweeted that he was on his way to Lafayette. “Please say a prayer for the victims at the Grand Theatre and their families,” he posted.</p>
