Gwyneth offered Rock Of Ages role

Must read

Gwyneth Paltrow has no plans for a full-time singing career

Gwyneth Paltrow has been offered a role in the Rock Of Ages film, it has been reported.

The Iron Man 2 actress has shown off her vocal skills in hit TV show Glee and in her new film Country Strong, where she plays a country singer – she also performed live at the Country Music Awards.

“It sounds cool – I just got the script and I will read it on the plane home tomorrow, but it sounds like it could be fun,” she told Entertainment Weekly.

Tom Cruise is also “in discussions” for a part in the film, with producer Jenno Topping saying: “It’s real, although it is not cemented.”

The big-screen adaptation of the popular Broadway musical, set in Los Angeles, will be directed by Hairspray’s Adam Shankman and follows the story of a young couple through 1980s rock hits.

Despite her voice being in high demand, Gwyneth, whose husband is Coldplay’s Chris Martin, has no plans to take up singing full-time.

“My Country Strong co-star Tim McGraw keeps joking that I should go on the road as his opening act. I don’t know about a whole tour but maybe a string of nights could be fun,” she said.

“I will probably do some more Glee episodes and maybe some more films that involve singing, but I’m not sure I would ever quit my current job and become a full-time singer. I love my day job and we already have a musician in the family.”
