<p>Dwayne Johnson has claimed he isn&#8217;t in the running to play Superman &#8211; though he joked he&#8217;d be perfect for the role.</p>
<p>The Rock, who is rumoured to be on the shortlist to play the superhero, said he was friends with the new movie&#8217;s director Zack Snyder but they hadn&#8217;t discussed the film.</p>
<p>&#8220;I love Zack Snyder, I&#8217;m a big fan of his,&#8221; the action star explained at the Hollywood premiere of his new movie Faster. &#8220;We&#8217;re buddies and I don&#8217;t believe (the rumours) to be true. But I would make a great Superman!&#8221;</p>
<p>In the star&#8217;s latest action role, he gets plenty of opportunity to flex his acting muscles, playing a pumped-up newly-released prisoner who&#8217;s out to avenge his brother&#8217;s murder.</p>
<p>&#8220;I was emotionally exhausted. The physical (part) was one thing, I can enjoy that, but the emotion&#8230; I didn&#8217;t have a lot of words but you&#8217;re still carrying everything internally,&#8221; he said. </p>
