<p>Fans of the cult movie Highlander are being given their own chance to become immortal as the film&#8217;s 25th anniversary in celebrated.</p>
<p>Christopher Lambert starred as Connor MacLeod in the 1986 release which portrayed battles fought by immortal warriors in the Highlands of Scotland and present-day New York.</p>
<p>Filming took place on the Isle of Skye, where enthusiasts are being offered the chance to have a gorge named after them. The newly-named feature, which lies within Clan MacLeod territory, will then be made official in the forthcoming 2012 Collins Big Road Atlas of Britain.</p>
<p>The competition was launched by video-on-demand website blinkbox, which features the Highlander television series. The winner will be picked by Rachael Jackson, a descendent of the Clan MacLeod, which co-runs The Skye Food Company.</p>
<p>Highlander, which also starred Sir Sean Connery, received mixed reviews on its release but went on to achieve cult status, spawning several sequels and a TV spin-off. The Russell Mulcahy-directed movie featured the well-known tagline &#8220;There can be only one&#8221; and had a soundtrack by rock band Queen.</p>
<p>Michael Comish, of blinkbox, said: &#8220;Highlander is one of our most popular TV series and it is a fantastic opportunity to bring the history and incredible setting of the show to life and offer a form of immortality to our winner.&#8221;</p>
<p>To enter, participants must visit www.blinkbox.com and explain in 140 characters or fewer why they deserve to become immortal. Alternatively, people can post their entry to Twitter by adding #IMMORTALWIN to their message.</p>
<p>The closing date is Wednesday January 26.</p>
