		</div><p>EastEnders fans have been given a Christmas Eve soap treat – in the form of a shock return from Jack Branning, played by Scott Maslen.</p>
<p>But what will Jack’s ex-wife Ronnie Mitchell, played by Samantha Womack, make of this – and at Christmas too?</p>
<p>Jack was last seen in Walford in October 2013, and while he isn’t giving away too much about his return, he’s said primarily “he’s back to see his daughter”.</p>
<p>Talking about his return, Scott said: “Everyone will probably think he’s back for Ronnie but that wasn’t his initial plan.</p>
<p>“Of course though if Ronnie and Jack see each other then something’s going to happen. As much as they avoid each other, as soon as they see each other things tend to spark off and that’s the case here.</p>
<p>“It shows they are destined to be together. But it’s riddled with complexities as EastEnders is. It’s not straightforward.”</p>
<p>Scott said that Jack plans to hang around for a while to find out “what’s going on with Ronnie”.</p>
<p>On his shock return, Scott said he was interested to see how people would react. He said: “I’m constantly getting tweets saying they want Ronnie and Jack back together so it will be good to see how everyone reacts.”</p>

<p>Scott’s co-star and EastEnders actress Rita Simons (who plays Roxy Mitchell) was among those thrilled.</p>
