<p>Michael Jackson was already dead when his doctor summoned help, a court has heard.</p>
<p>A preliminary hearing on an involuntary manslaughter charge has begun in Los Angeles to determine if there is enough evidence for Dr Conrad Murray to face trial.</p>
<p>The Houston cardiologist is accused of gross negligence when he administered the powerful anaesthetic Propofol to help Jackson get to sleep. Jackson died on June 25 2009, of Propofol intoxication complicated by other sedatives.</p>
<p>Prosecutors said evidence would show that Dr Murray also tried to conceal his administering the anaesthetic to the pop superstar, ordering a bodyguard to collect items before paramedics were called.</p>
<p>&#8220;The evidence will show through the expert testimony, by all accounts, Michael Jackson was dead in the bedroom at 100 North Carrolwood prior to the paramedics arriving,&#8221; lawyer David Walgren said.</p>
<p>If convicted of involuntary manslaughter, Murray could face four years in prison and the loss of his medical licence.</p>
<p>Murray has pleaded not guilty, and his lawyer says nothing the doctor did should have harmed the superstar.</p>
