<p>Jennifer Lopez broke down in tears on American Idol as she was forced to send a contestant home.</p>
<p>The 41-year-old star sobbed &#8220;I don&#8217;t want to do this any more&#8221; after she told Chris Medina &#8211; who had revealed on the show he is caring for his fiancee after she was left brain damaged by a car accident &#8211; that she and judges Steven Tyler and Randy Jackson had not voted him through to the next round.</p>
<p>J Lo later revealed to Idol host Ryan Seacrest on his radio show: &#8220;I just couldn&#8217;t believe I had to deliver this news to this person who had been through a lot. I felt like I didn&#8217;t it do it well enough to send him into where he needed to go in his life and be OK.&#8221;</p>
<p>She went on: &#8220;Even though I&#8217;m an emotional and passionate person, I&#8217;m very in control of my emotions. I&#8217;ve had to be, over the years, being in the public eye.</p>
<p>&#8220;This is the first experience, on Idol, where people are really getting to know who I am as a person. It&#8217;s great, because I&#8217;m proud of who I am as a person, but scary, because it&#8217;s such a vulnerable place to be.&#8221;</p>
<p>The judges have now picked their 24 semi-finalists and 12 male contestants will perform on Tuesday, followed by the top dozen female singers on Wednesday, when the viewers decide who goes through to the next round. The finalists will be announced next Thursday, March 3.</p>
<p>From Tuesday viewers will be able to cast votes through Facebook, along with the previous options of phone and text message.</p>
<p>It was recently reported that Facebook is in negotiations to allow viewers of X Factor and US X Factor to cast votes through Facebook.</p>
