<p>Nicole Kidman has revealed she was prevented from attending a meeting for bereaved parents &#8211; because she wasn&#8217;t one of them.</p>
<p>The Oscar-winning actress wanted to attend the group sessions for grieving parents as part of her preparation for her part in Rabbit Hole, where she plays a mother struggling to deal with the death of her six-year-old son.</p>
<p>&#8220;I actually tried to go to a grief group and they said, &#8216;No, you can&#8217;t come because you can&#8217;t have someone in the group that hasn&#8217;t been through exactly the same thing &#8211; the emotions are too raw&#8217;, which I totally respected,&#8221; she said.</p>
<p>The mother-of-five wasn&#8217;t afraid to take on the challenge of the role.</p>
<p>&#8220;It&#8217;s the place you most fear to tread, particularly as a parent, a mother, it&#8217;s the most terrifying place to go and exist but at the same time it&#8217;s the most important,&#8221; she said.</p>
<p>&#8220;The loss of a child is the most terrifying place for me to go but that&#8217;s where I tend to go creatively &#8211; places that terrify me.&#8221;</p>
<p>Nicole added: &#8220;Life can be very beautiful, but there&#8217;s the other end of the spectrum when it can be so painful. I wanted to honour that for people. It&#8217;s not explored that often and for me it needs to be.&#8221;</p>
