<p>Lebanon&#8217;s caretaker prime minister is seeking international support after Hezbollah brought down his government.</p>
<p>Saad Hariri is to meet Turkish prime minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan, after meeting US president Barack Obama in Washington and stopped in France en route to Turkey.</p>
<p>Lebanon&#8217;s Hezbollah-led alliance quit the government on Wednesday, causing it to collapse. It is now making a bid to install an ally as prime minister.</p>
<p>If the Shiite militant group succeeds, its patrons in Iran and Syria would have far more sway in that volatile corner of the Middle East &#8211; something the US has worked to prevent.</p>
<p>If negotiations between Hezbollah and a Western-backed bloc fail, that could rekindle street protests and violence in Lebanon.</p>
<p>Lebanon&#8217;s president Michel Suleiman asked Mr Hariri to stay on as a caretaker after the government collapsed, amid disputes over a tribunal investigating the murder of former prime minister Rafik Hariri, while consultations are ongoing over a new prime minister.</p>
