<p>US prosecutors have charged Lindsay Lohan over the theft of a 2,500 dollar (£1,550) necklace.</p>
<p>The 24-year-old actress was charged with felony grand theft and is due to appear in court to hear the charges against her.</p>
<p>Lohan&#8217;s lawyer, Shawn Chapman Holley, has denied the necklace was stolen.</p>
<p>Prosecutors have asked for bail to be set at 20,000 dollars (£12,415).</p>
<p>The charge is the latest legal problem for the starlet, who remains on probation for a 2007 drink-driving case.</p>
<p>Police began investigating Lohan after a shop in Venice Beach, California, reported the necklace missing on January 22.</p>
