<p>Lindsay Lohan is being investigated by police in Los Angeles for the possible theft of jewellery.</p>
<p>A police spokesman said a jewellery store in the Venice area of LA &#8211; where the troubled Mean Girls star now lives &#8211; reported a 2,500 dollar piece missing on January 22.</p>
<p>He said a grand theft investigation was opened, and officers obtained a warrant to search Lindsay&#8217;s home on Tuesday.</p>
<p>The jewellery was handed over to detectives before the warrant was executed. </p>
<p>The spokesman said the case is still under investigation.</p>
<p>Lindsay remains on probation for a 2007 drunken driving case.</p>
