<p>Michael Buble has joked that Justin Bieber&#8217;s success at the American Music Awards has heralded a new era for Canadian pop music.</p>
<p>The crooner said he and Justin &#8211; who he mimicks in his latest video &#8211; were just two Canadian acts who were ready to take over the US market.</p>
<p>Speaking backstage at the LA ceremony, he quipped: &#8220;There&#8217;s something happening here that you guys don&#8217;t talk about and that&#8217;s because you don&#8217;t know. But I&#8217;ll break it to you &#8211; while you Americans are sitting there and getting fat, us Canadians are ready to take over. You know it! </p>
<p>&#8220;We&#8217;re plotting. We&#8217;ve got Bieber, Celine (Dion), me, Alanis (Morrissette). Nickelback is very strong. Tragically Hip and Jim Carrey &#8211; all coming for you.&#8221;</p>
<p>Earlier on the red carpet, stars including Michael were asked who their teen idol was as part of the build-up to New Kids On The Block&#8217;s highly-anticipated collaboration with the Backstreet Boys, which closed the show.</p>
<p>&#8220;I love Liza, and I&#8217;m not gay,&#8221; said Michael. &#8220;I just love her.&#8221; </p>
<p>Donnie Wahlberg of the New Kids said posters of Leif Garret and Shaun Cassidy graced the walls of his house when he was younger, before admitting: &#8220;That was my sister&#8217;s wall, actually.&#8221;</p>
<p>After the show, Katy Perry and Russell Brand were among the celebrities living it up in the Rolling Stone Restaurant &#038; Lounge, which is still yet to officially open.</p>
<p>Kid Rock held court in the VIP room overlooking the downstairs dance floor, where waitresses swept by with short ribs, mini cheeseburgers, crab cakes and freshwater eel rolls.</p>
<p>Jon Bon Jovi, Avril Lavigne, Ke$ha and Kelly Osbourne were also among the first to celebrate inside the new two-storey spot in Hollywood.</p>
