<p>Larry King has told Piers Morgan that his new TV show lacks the &#8220;danger&#8221; he promised viewers.</p>
<p>In an interview on the former tabloid editor&#8217;s programme &#8211; a slot which Larry occupied for 25 years until December &#8211; the 77-year-old said he hadn&#8217;t &#8220;seen dangerous yet&#8221; on the much-hyped shows.</p>
<p>But Piers defended his aggressive promotional campaign for the US talk show, which kicked off in January.</p>
<p>&#8220;We couldn&#8217;t come in and undersell then&#8230; I&#8217;m following a legend. I can&#8217;t come in after Sinatra in Vegas and say, &#8216;By the way, this is not going to be very good,'&#8221; he said.</p>
<p>&#8220;I suppose I&#8217;ve always oversold myself. I quite like doing that. It&#8217;s quite funny.&#8221;</p>
<p>As for promising danger, Piers said: &#8220;I was only kidding.&#8221;</p>
<p>&#8220;Aha, British humour,&#8221; Larry replied. &#8220;I didn&#8217;t get it. I&#8217;m from Brooklyn.&#8221;</p>
<p>When Piers asked his predecessor why he thought the ratings for Larry King Live went down so much in the past few years, Larry said it was because of the rise of opinionated hosts on cable shows where &#8220;the guest is a prop&#8221;.</p>
<p>He went on to suggest the pendulum would eventually shift back.</p>
